If you’re a landlord, you’re no stranger to tenant turnovers and getting the property ready for the next inhabitant. The best way to have a steady stream of responsible, clean, and careful tenants is to present them with a property that is cared for, cleaned, and in pristine condition upon their move-in. The tone you set from the get-go is the one they’re going to obey during their time in your property.
Here are 3 things every landlord should do before the next tenant moves in:
Tenants can be careless and disruptive to the layout of a property. When your previous tenant moves out, it is incredibly important you ensure the safety of your next resident. Be sure to repair any existing damage at the property, check windows/window locks, observe the stove gas levels, and make sure the fire alarm is in working condition.
Even if the tenant is going to be paying for the utilities, it is still important to go down the list and ensure the heat, plumbing, and electric are in working order. If you choose to put these tasks off until the tenant has moved in, you’re going to be met with some angry phone calls and a lack of respect from your resident for the rest of the lease.
The most important tip! Landlords, you must take the time to clean your property if you want the right kind of tenant moving in. How a property is presented says a lot about what kind of residency you expect. We understand that cleaning an entire residential or commercial property is not exactly something you want to do, which is why we offer comprehensive services for making your property eye-catchingly clean before you next tenant moves in.
Ready to accept your next tenant? Be sure to have us rub a little elbow grease into the property’s presentation before you do.
